BRIC Action Summit & Celebration

Event Overview

The SC Office of Rural Health and SC Department of Health and Environmental Control, in partnership with Zenger Strategies, are organizing an end-of-year, in-person event exclusively for the grantees and community partners of the Building Resilient and Inclusive Communities (BRIC) program in Dillon, Lee, Marlboro, and Williamsburg Counties.

This event will be useful, engaging, and FUN - less lecture, more connection! SCORH and the Zenger Strategies team will provide a structured day of learning, networking, action planning, and celebration in order to set up these 4 Pee Dee communities for a successful year of programs and community engagement in 2024 and beyond.

Session Overview

The BRIC Action Summit will include appropriate experiential learning techniques, skill-building exercises, and action planning. The Summit will also provide an opportunity to gather and celebrate the statewide progress of BRIC grantees: activities focused on food and nutrition security, physical activity access, and social connectedness for older adults in rural communities.

Summit Objectives:

● Convene South Carolina Building Resilient and Inclusive Communities (BRIC) grantees for skills-building workshops and information sessions focused on action planning and sustainability of strategies and activities implemented within the communities.

● Provide opportunities for collaborative information sharing and networking among BRIC communities.

● Equip BRIC grantee communities to maintain grant interventions post-grant implementation period.

● Celebrate SC BRIC initiative progress from 2021 – 2023.

Attendee Objectives:

● Attendees will reflect and assess progress made on BRIC action plan strategies and activities.

● Attendees will identify opportunities for collaboration with other statewide food and nutrition systems, physical activity, and social connectedness initiatives and programs in rural settings.

● Attendees will participate in skills-building sessions on coalition capacity building (grant writing, marketing, and communications) for sustainability.

● Attendees will plan for action in 2024 by outlining key next steps for the sustainability of interventions post-grant implementation period.
